The race, in three figures
The race, in words
Andre Enger finished 116th of 219 men in the Open division at Essen 2019, in 1:29:17.
Legs and stations told different stories: 64% of the field beaten on the runs, 30% on the stations. If there was time left out there, it was on the sandbag lunges, 1:18 behind the median. A harder second half: 1:31 more lost to the middle of the field after halfway than before it.
Essen ran fast: the 102 athletes who also raced elsewhere this season were about 4:19 quicker here than at their other races. 1:49 faster than at Hannover 2019, the previous Open race.
