The race, in words
In the Open division at Maastricht 2024, Merel Sas crossed the line in 1:28:54: 125th of 314 women, faster than 60% of the field.
Legs and stations told different stories: 83% of the field beaten on the runs, 28% on the stations. If there was time left out there, it was on the wall balls, 3:03 behind the median. A harder second half: 3:53 more lost to the middle of the field after halfway than before it.
Maastricht ran fast: the 209 athletes who also raced elsewhere this season were about 1:28 quicker here than at their other races. 6:53 slower than at Amsterdam 2022, the previous Open race.
