The race, in words
Andrew Langley finished 33rd of 186 men in the Open division at Malmö 2023, in 1:15:40, faster than 82% of the field.
Legs and stations told different stories: 92% of the field beaten on the runs, 63% on the stations. The sandbag lunges cost the most time: 1:08 slower than the median. A harder second half: 1:40 more lost to the middle of the field after halfway than before it.
Malmö ran fast: the 118 athletes who also raced elsewhere this season were about 1:48 quicker here than at their other races. 0:49 slower than at Rotterdam 2023, the previous Open race.
