David Erickson finished 179th of 294 men in the Open division at Anaheim 2023, in 1:36:45.
Legs and stations told different stories: 60% of the field beaten on the runs, 20% on the stations. On the sandbag lunges the field had the edge, by 3:49. The race faded late: the second half went 5:59 worse against the middle of the field than the first.
Anaheim ran fast: the 176 athletes who also raced elsewhere this season were about 1:40 quicker here than at their other races. 0:32 faster than at Los Angeles 2021, the previous Open race.
