The race, in three figures
The race, in words
In the Open division at Maastricht European Championships 2023, Mariska Heeman crossed the line in 1:14:36: 37th of 258 women, faster than 86% of the field.
Legs and stations told different stories: 95% of the field beaten on the runs, 64% on the stations. The burpee broad jumps were where this race was made, 0:37 ahead of the median. A harder second half: 1:29 more lost to the middle of the field after halfway than before it.
Athletes who raced both Maastricht European Championships 2023 and Amsterdam 2022 were 2:30 faster here, so this time looks a little better than it was.
